China Study Camp Back to archive
14th September 2017

In the summer holidays six Benenden girls and two members of staff took part in a two-week China Study Camp, staying in Beijing and Changzhou, a southern Chinese city near Shanghai.

The girls started their trip by having Mandarin language and culture classes at Changzhou Senior High School, a super selective school in Jiangsu Province. They also visited some of the local sites around Changzhou to learn about the history and culture of the region. The girls also spent a day visiting the homes of local families and got to hang out with their Chinese friends from the Changzhou Senior High School.

One of the girls represented all of the UK students to give a speech, both in Mandarin and English at the Camp's opening ceremony which was covered by the local news and Benenden girls were indeed superstars on the stage at the closing ceremony performance before heading to Beijing to visit some of the most famous sights, including the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

All of the girls enjoyed their time on the trip immensely and all of them have already mentioned plans to visit China again in the future!
