Mock Trial at Benenden Back to archive
7th February 2017

The highlight of the Benenden Law Society, the Mock Trial, was held recently with more than 20 girls playing active roles in the trial and another 30 or so watching.

After hearing the (sometimes hilarious) testimonies of the witnesses and observing some ruthless cross-examination by the legal teams, the jury delivered their verdict in a trial of a neighbourly dispute that spiralled out of control.

To the surprise of many in the public gallery, the defendant was found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm.

A fun evening was had by all and special thanks go to His Honour Judge Julian Smith and Oliver Saxby QC for running the event.
