Best Ever A Level Results - 2009

Dear Parents and Pupils

I am writing to tell you that our best ever A Level results, by subject, are now on both the Portal and the website. We are thrilled with the achievements of the Class of 2009 who have broken all previous records - and by quite some margin. This year’s leavers have passed 73% of their A Levels with A grades (well up on last year’s previous record of 68%) and 91% with an A/B grade (up on 90% last year). This is a remarkable achievement by the students and the staff who taught them and they deserve our warmest congratulations. There have been many celebrations, as you can imagine, and very nearly every student has got into her first choice of university. We are truly delighted for them as they start on the next exciting stage of their lives. Whilst a few students have received a grade which was a little lower than expected, they know that the team at Benenden are already on hand to guide them as they make decisions about university choices.

The AS results also came in today and many of the students are celebrating some excellent grades. For some, they know there is much work still to be done. Whether greeted with delight or, in some cases, a little disappointment, these AS grades should give all Six Two students a target and a focus as they head into their final year.

I hope that you are enjoying the summer. Next week’s GCSE results will appear on both the Portal and the website.

Best wishes

Claire Oulton
