The Library is a popular place in the School, not just because it holds a stock of 20,000 fiction, non-fiction, Oxbridge and Competitive entry books and a vast DVD collection, but because it offers a calm working environment.
Fourths enjoy reading periods towards the end of a busy School day, whilst other year groups work side-by-side in Private Study. Sixth Formers generally work in the Library until it closes at 9.20pm. With the Library professionally staffed weekdays and weekends it is an accessible resource throughout the term.
Lower Fifth students volunteer to do Library duty as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and run the Library during lunchtimes and break. Other Lower Fifths are part of the judging panel for the annual Southern Schools’ Book Awards. The Library celebrates World Book Day, National Poetry Day, National Storytelling Week and other annual book events.
Our School Librarian, Abegail Morley, is a published and award winning poet. Find out more about her work.
