We were delighted to unveil the Centenary Vision for Benenden at the Trust Annual Dinner in the presence of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal. As Benenden celebrates its 90th anniversary we are proud of our outstanding reputation as a thriving boarding school offering a first-class education to 550 girls. Over the years it has been our intention to build upon the ethos of the School’s Founders to prepare each girl with the values and skills for the world in which she will enter. Whilst the values that we hold dear of Courage, Compassion and Confidence have remained constant, our curriculum and facilities have evolved exponentially over the years so that the education we offer is innovative, relevant and responsive to a changing world. To date Benenden Seniors have achieved outstanding things in many varied walks of life and we are committed to ensure that this will continue in the future through the Complete Education we offer.
We are grateful to the visionary leadership and support of the Benenden School Trust in enabling our tremendous success to date. The Trust has had an immeasurable impact on the development of the School, by investing in major building and infrastructure projects – including the Clarke Study Centre and Library, the Dining Room and Café, SPLASH and the Fitness Centre, the Theatre, the Eco-Classroom and, most recently, the state-of-the-art Science Centre. The effect of these new and inspiring facilities on Benenden over the years has been transformational. However, we cannot afford to rest on our laurels. As we look to the next ten years and the School’s Centenary we have ambitious plans to ensure that we secure and build upon our position as a school of national and international excellence whilst never losing sight of what it is that we stand for.
Our curriculum will continue to be one of the most innovative in this country, combining traditional academic and co-curricular excellence with the practical and transferable skills that will support our girls in the workplace anywhere in the world.
The exciting plans we have for the ongoing development of our facilities will enable the vision to be realised and the building of further staff accommodation will help us to continue to recruit the very best staff to secure it. Furthermore, it is our wish to enable more talented local girls to access the education we offer through the Trust Award Programme and for the School to build an endowment to support our aims years into the future.
The contents of the Centenary Vision brochure and film outline what it is we hope to achieve through our vision over the next decade. We are hugely grateful for the support that many generations have given to Benenden in the past. Your generosity to date has created the Benenden we enjoy today. It is only with your support that we can build the Benenden of tomorrow and maintain our position as one of the leading schools in the world.
Thank you for your support.
Samantha Price, Headmistress
As Headmistress of Benenden I am clear that the breadth of learning and teaching opportunities enjoyed by pupils and staff today have only been made possible by the past generosity to the Benenden School Trust of parents of current and former pupils, Seniors, staff and other friends of Benenden.
